What is Morpheus8?

The Future of Firmness, Defined

Morpheus8 is an advanced fractional radiofrequency microneedling device that builds on microneedling to deliver skin-tightening benefits of RF. Morpheus 8 is revolutionary because it treats deeper than most prior microneedling devices, and it’s FDA-approved as a Subdermal Adipose Remodeling Device, or SARD. This means that Morpheus treats more than just the skin – by directing energy into the tissue below the skin, difficult to treat areas like fatty necks and jowls can be contoured non-surgically. Only a topical anesthetic cream is needed, and both recovery and cost are minimal.

What is the Morpheus8 procedure like?

Thirty Minutes to a Renewed You

Your treatment begins in the comfort of our Houston suite with the application of a high-grade topical numbing cream to ensure a tolerable experience. Once the skin is ready, the Morpheus8 handpiece is systematically applied to the target area. The device utilizes gold-plated microneedles to create microscopic channels while simultaneously emitting bursts of radiofrequency (RF) energy. You may feel a slight prickling sensation followed by warmth as the energy works to "coagulate" and tighten the tissue from within.

  • According to a study published in the Journal of Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology, radiofrequency micronedling penetrates the dermis with heat energy that results in skin tightening within the dermal tissue. This results from the immediate denaturation of collagen fibers, which initiates new collagen formation that occurs in a few weeks to several months.
  • There is no chromophore dependence with radiofrequency, unlike lasers, and thus this treatment option is suitable for a variety of skin types, from fair to darker pigmented individuals.

What conditions does Morpheus8 address?

A Comprehensive Solution for Skin Imperfections

Morpheus8 is exceptionally versatile, addressing a wide spectrum of aesthetic concerns:

  • Skin Laxity: Tightens mild to moderate sagging in the jowls, neck, and submental area.
  • Wrinkles & Fine Lines: Smooths "crepey" skin around the eyes and deep creases on the face.
  • Acne & Surgical Scars: Remodels scar tissue to improve surface smoothness.
  • Textural Irregularities: Reduces enlarged pores and refines a rough or "orange peel" skin texture.
  • Stretch Marks: Improves the appearance and depth of stretch marks on the body.

What areas of the body can Morpheus8 address?

Sculpted Confidence from Face to Form

While most famous for its "non-surgical facelift" effects on the face and neck, Morpheus8 is equally effective on the body. We frequently treat the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, and the skin above the knees to reduce laxity and smooth imperfections.

This minimally invasive procedure helps improve the appearance of:

  • Mild sagging and jowling in the face and neck
  • Excess fat in the face and neck
  • Acne scarring and other scars on the face or body
  • Sun damage
  • Deep lines and Ceases
  • Enlarged Pores
  • Stretch Marks
  • Uneven or rough skin texture

What are the benefits of Morpheus8?

Effortless Radiance for Every Skin Tone

Deep Tissue Remodeling

Unlike traditional microneedling, which stays near the surface, Morpheus8 can penetrate up to 4mm (and even deeper on the body), reaching the fat layers where significant contouring occurs.

Safe for All Skin Tones

Morpheus8 uses "color-blind" technology. Because RF energy is delivered via insulated needles deep into the skin, the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is significantly lower than with many laser treatments, making it safe for darker skin tones.

The "In-Between" Solution

For patients in their 20s, 30s, or 40s who are seeing early signs of sagging but aren't ready for a surgical facelift or tummy tuck, Morpheus8 offers a powerful preventive and corrective alternative.

Am I a candidate for Morpheus8?

A Tailored Transformation

The ideal candidate is in good health and has mild-to-moderate skin laxity or textural concerns. It is ideal for those who want visible results but cannot commit to the recovery time required after surgery. If you have active skin infections, are pregnant, or have a pacemaker, we will discuss alternative treatment options during your consultation.

Morpheus8 Recovery & Results

The Lasting Impression of Collagen

Recovery

You will likely experience redness and slight swelling—similar to a moderate sunburn—for 24 to 72 hours. You may see tiny "pinpoint" scabs where the needles entered; these are a normal part of the healing process and should not be picked. We recommend avoiding makeup for 48 hours and staying out of direct sunlight. A dedicated moisturizing regimen and high-SPF mineral sunscreen are essential to protect your newly regenerating skin.

Results

Initial improvements in skin tone and clarity are often visible within the first few days. However, the true "magic" of Morpheus8 is cumulative. Because it relies on your body’s natural production of collagen and elastin, the most significant tightening and contouring typically appear 3 to 4 weeks after your treatment, with continued improvement for up to six months.

Most patients find that a series of three sessions delivers the most transformative results. These outcomes can last for a year or more, and many of our patients opt for a single annual "maintenance" session to maintain peak collagen production.

Morpheus8 Frequently Asked Questions

Possible complications of Morpheus8 include bleeding, infection, bruising, uneven swelling or discoloration, allergic reaction to anesthesia, skin blistering (typically observed in smokers), and skin burn.

With our medical-grade numbing cream, most patients describe the sensation as a series of warm pinpricks. It is generally well-tolerated, and we prioritize your comfort throughout the session.

While some patients require only a single treatment, most will see further improvement with an additional treatment or two spaced approximately 4-5 weeks apart. Dr. De La Cruz will review the texture, tone, color, and laxity of your skin during your confidential consultation and help guide you through the rejuvenation process.

Morpheus 8 can be combined with radiofrequency-assisted liposuction (Facetite/Necktite), which further enhances your results, similar to a facelift. The advantage of this procedure is that it's scarless! Not only is it scarless, but the downtime is also very minimal (1-3 days).

We ask that you wait at least 48 hours before applying makeup to ensure the micro-channels have closed and the skin is no longer sensitive.

Traditional microneedling only addresses the surface. Morpheus8 combines radiofrequency energy with deeper penetration, enabling it to tighten skin and remodel fat—results that microneedling alone cannot achieve.

  • Morpheus 8 delivers deep and safe fractional treatment, penetrating 4000 microns with an additional thermal profile of 1000+ microns
  • Extremely Uniform Effect
  • Little to no thermal damage to the dermis, unlike other radiofrequency-assisted microneedling devices
  • Safe on Fitzpatrick skin type VI (Darker pigmented patients, as seen in some Asian and Latin patients) with little risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is common with other resurfacing methods, such as the CO2 LASER

The main difference between Morpheus 8 and Fractora is the depth of penetration. The depth of penetration of Morpheus 8 can range from 2mm to 6 mm.
